Minister: Rev Dr Allan S Vint

Allan serves the linked charge of Mauchline and Sorn. He was inducted to the parish in March 2021 having previously been minister at Kilsyth Anderson Parish Church.

Allan was born and raised in a small West Lothian mining village before heading north to study Science at Aberdeen University. Having graduated BSc, Allan then began his ministerial studies and after graduating with a BD degree he was licenced by the Presbytery of Aberdeen in 1987. His probationary period was at Northfield Parish Church before being called to serve as minister in St. Andrew’s Parish Church in Motherwell. This was followed, after 7 years, by a move to be minister in Mure Memorial Church in Glasgow Presbytery. At this time, Allan began further studies around the theme of Church Growth, which led to a MTh degree from Glasgow University. Allan’s next move was to take on the role of Mission Development Officer with Dunfermline Presbytery, again looking towards helping congregations to becoming healthy and leading to growth. This began a longer period of study working part-time towards a PhD degree at Glasgow University. This was completed in 2017 under the title, Statistics, planning and the mission of the Church of Scotland: a critical examination of quantitative data as a resource for national, regional and local engagement At this point Allan was minister at Kilsyth Anderson Parish Church before being called to Mauchline linked with Sorn.

Allan is passionate about creating a community of faith which is warm and welcoming and which demonstrates a commitment of the Great Commandment: to love God and to love your neighbour and to the Great Commission: to take the Good News of Jesus to everyone.
